Do your trees need fertilizing? To ensure healthy growth and the best chances for survival all trees should have the added advantage of minerals and nutrients through tree fertilizing. Because home owners enjoy all the benefits that trees have to offer in a suburban environment, many of the trees natural habitat settings have been removed. For example, in the fall, leaves are often raked-up from the area surrounding of a tree for which a tree would otherwise take advantage of the leaves natural benefits. Because of the various natural stresses that trees must overcome the need for tree fertilizing is more then likely necessary. Furthermore traditional urban landscapes don’t usually contain sufficient amounts of nutrients suitable for proper growth and development.
Tree Fertilizing Service
GPM Enterprises Tree Fertilizing Service can take place throughout any time of the year when the ground isn’t frozen. However, specific times of the year have added advantages with respect to the types and amounts of nutrients that can be applied. The application of greater amounts of nitrogen (N) based fertilizer throughout the early spring a summer months will benefit the tree much greater then in the fall. From the fall to the spring (when the ground isn’t frozen) trees will use nutrients from fertilizer differently then in the spring and summer months. In the fall, winter and very early spring most of the nutrients being used goes towards fundamental growth functions such as root development and disease resistance – rather then that of new growth. Younger trees benefit from fertilizer in late March to through to early July. For trees that are obviously lacking in nutrients a soil test may be conducted to determine the levels of phosphors (P) and potassium (K) levels. Soil testing provides invaluable and will ensure the proper amount of tree fertilizer. The application of the wrong type and/or amount of fertilizer to a tree can have the reverse effects and actually cause damage to a tree.
Our Tree Fertilizing Service will evaluate your trees and soil to determine the best levels of nutrients and fertilizer to use.

Shrub Fertilizing
Do you need shrub fertilizing as well? GPM Enterprises also uses the same process and equipment for shrub fertilizing (as we do for tree fertilizing). Shrubs can become worn down and withered for any number of reasons. While were fertilizing your trees doesn’t it make sense to have your shrubs fertilized as well?
GPM Enterprises’s Tree Fertilizing Process
If your tree requires fertilizing GPM Enterprises’s Certified Arborists will determine the appropriate amount of fertilizer and nutrient levels to apply to your tree root system. Our Tree Fertilizing Team is trained to recognize and understand the proper maintenance required and tree fertilizing application process for your trees to ensure healthy growth. We use a deep root fertilization feeder that is able to reach deep into the soil as a mean of spreading essential nutrients to the roots.
We’ll spike holes from 12 to 14 inches deep in a grid pattern surrounding your tree to ensure we’ve reached every part of the tree’s root system. Every situation is different and some trees may require more concentration around the base where others can safely have fertilizer applied approximately 2 feet apart. An image to the left displays the top-view of a typical grid pattern created as a result of tree fertilizing. Our fertilizer formula connects directly to our deep-root feeder/irrigator tool and works in conjunction with water. It’s a manual process and is approved and considered the most effective method by the International Society of Arboriculture. Getting fertilizer directly to the root zone is the main factor in the application process. Applying fertilizing any less then 12 inches will have minimal effect. In fact, an adverse effect of tree roots surfacing may occur instead. People that do this are wasting water and fertilizer if anything else. Our team is able to reach the proper depth and create multiple tree fertilization feeds spread throughout a logical and effective pattern around the tree to be fertilized. Our deep root fertilization tool also has 5 holes that spray tree fertilizer in various directions when being applied. This allows a specific area being fertilized to receive the maximum benefits.
